Vegetable prices to remain stable this week
Despite heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, vegetable prices will remain the same this week. This comes after a 10 per cent increase in prices due to supply issues.

Following the second crop harvest as well as the shortage of labourers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the rains in the State and surrounding states have damaged the crop slightly, said P Sukumaran, secretary, Koyambedu Wholesale Market Merchants’ Association.
“Prices will remain stable this week, despite a 10 per cent dip in supply. This is because there already was a hike in prices last week, also due to supply reasons. Any further increase in prices will occur next week, and predictions say there will be a 10 to 15 per cent increase,” he said. Fruit prices will also follow a similar trend.
This stability in prices will continue for one week to 10 days, he added, saying that the second crop and rain patterns might lead to further supply issues down the line.
