Senior police officer’s house used for drug peddling, tenant held
A man who was living as a tenant in the house of a senior police officer attached to the CB-CID was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Kilpauk for using the house as a hub for narcotics operations. The apartment has been sealed following the seizure of drugs.

Sources said that sleuths from the NCB have seized an unspecified quantity of hashish from the apartment used by the accused. Hashish is a narcotics drug prepared from resins of cannabis plants. “The accused was high of the possible use of the drug,” an official said.
Residents of the apartment identified the accused as Arun, who had been staying in the flat for more than one year.
Sources noted that on Monday night, the sleuths arrived at the apartment based on a tip-off. CB-CID DSP Radhakrishnan also arrived at the spot along with an inspector. After identifying himself, Radhakrishnan asked for the team’s details. When the NCB sleuths explained the purpose of their visit, Radhakrishnan understood the situation and left the scene.
Sources said that the suspect was paying a monthly rent of Rs 20,000 and was staying alone.
“So far, no evidence is available to prove that the CB-CID official was aware or involved in the narcotics activities along with Arun,” NCB sources added. “It is difficult to believe that being a police officer he failed to notice the activities of his tenant,” another official noted.
CB-CID officer Radhakrishnan had earlier worked as a Personal Security Officer of the former Chief Minister and late DMK leader M Karunanidhi.
