Chennai
On Friday night, a country bomb exploded near the Tiruporur Panchayat office when Vignesh (28) and Ashok (30), both history-sheeters, were riding on a bike. A team from the Tiruporur police who arrived at the spot found the men lying in a pool of blood. They were identified as criminals with murder and attempt to murder cases pending against them.
After inquiry, officials said that Ashok was recently released on bail. Fearing that his rivals might attack him, he recently vacated the house in Chengalpattu and settled in Kelambakkam with his wife. He would always carry country bomb and knives in his backpack while he travelled for his security. After becoming a father recently, Ashok threw a party to his friends near Chengalpattu on Friday.
He was returning home with his friend Vignesh when the country bomb he was carrying exploded, leaving them both injured. On Sunday night, the police team searched Ashok’s house in Kelambakkam and recovered four country bombs that were kept inside sandbags. The bombs were seized, said officials, adding that they have decided to diffuse the bombs in the Keerapkkam stone quarry after getting permission from the court.
