Cradle rope turns noose for 11-yr-old boy in Ramapuram

The deceased R Balaji was a Class 6 student while his father Raghupathy is an auto driver. While Raghupathy and his wife had gone out for purchase, Balaji was playing in the cloth cradle kept for his uncle’s nine-month-old child.

The landlord Govindaraj, who stays nearby, found Ragupathy’s house open and entered only to see Balaji hanging unconscious in the cradle after rope attached to cradle had strangulated him. Balaji was

rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead. Royala Nagar police registered a case.

In another incident in Tiruvallur district, a four-year-old boy succumbed to burns after hot water spilt on him near Gummidipoondi.

The deceased Sharvan from Panpakkam was the son of Manikandan and Meena. The incident happened on August 29 after hot water kept for bathing fell on him while the parents were busy with house chores.

He was rushed to the Child Hospital in Egmore where he succumbed to burns on Sunday. Kavarapettai police are investigating.
