Quack on the prowl for 20 yrs held in Tiruvallur

The accused S Srinivasan of Poondi is a Chemistry graduate and has completed a diploma in pharmacy. While Srinivasan opened a medical shop, he also started offering medical consultation to the villagers over a period.

While he took a break when the COVID hit the country, he is said to have resumed the practice again recently. Medical Officer S Deepa of Uthukottai Government Hospital, who received information about Srinivasan, lodged a complaint at Pullarambakkam police station seeking action against the quack, after which a case was registered under Sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating) of IPC and 15(3) of Indian Medical Act and Srinivasan was arrested after an investigation.

The investigation officer said that he opened a clinic in front of his medical shop and started giving medication to ailing villagers. Srinivasan was remanded in judicial custody.
