Realtor-turned-burglar held with 50 sovereigns, jewels
The Chennai police arrested a 54-year-old realtor who turned into a burglar, allegedly targetting gold and diamond jewellery, in MKB Nagar. The arrested was identified as Johnson from Tiruvarur district.

The police managed to catch hold of the suspect within less than 15 hours after a crime with the help of CCTV footage. He was trying to escape in a car when police nabbed him.
According to the police, the victim Joseph Selvaraj, 57, from MKB Nagar runs a steel business with his office located at Washermenpet. Recently, Joseph’s son got married and other family members are staying in Bengaluru for the time being. Joseph alone is staying in his residence. On Thursday morning, he left for his shop in Washermenpet. Around 2 pm, his neighbour called him to inform that he heard some noise from Joseph’s house.
On arrival, Joseph noticed that over 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery and four diamond earrings were stolen from a cupboard. Based on a complaint, the MKB Nagar police registered a case and nabbed the suspect who was earlier into real estate business.
