Around 9 pm, sub-inspector Lakshmanan and head constable Senthil Kumar were standing near the bus terminus with their patrol vehicle, when a boy approached and told them that a toddler was lying unattended in front of a car showroom nearby.
The two policemen, who rushed to the spot, rescued her. On information, senior officers reached the station and identified the baby as Sanjana. Soon, she was taken to the Koyambedu police station and handed over to her parents, Ramesh and Sandhya. The police also gifted a pair of dress and essentials for the child. “Sanjana is doing well and there were no injuries on her body,” said an official. The police suspect that the abductors might have abandoned her fearing getting caught. A hunt has been launched with the help of CCTV footage near the showroom. However, the police failed to track the boy who tipped off police about the child.
