The Chennai Traffic Police has initiated a new awareness campaign for the safety of riders. Although a similar campaign has been practised in neighbouring states - Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, this drive in the city will mandate the riders of both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, to wear the helmet or seatbelt. If not, the rider's vehicle will not be fueled.

Fuel Stations are advised to display and follow this message strictly.

Earlier, it was reported that Tamil Nadu has witnessed a 28 per cent decline in the number of deaths being reported for riding two-wheelers without helmets in 2019, due to the increased awareness on the safety aspects involved in using proper headgear and strict enforcement of road traffic rules.
Optimistically, this awareness initiative of the Greater Chennai Traffic police will help to see a further decline in accidents prone deaths.
