Doctor, banker kin try to molest maid, arrested

Among the accused, Deepak (28) of CTO Colony is said to be working at a popular city hospital, while his relative Anand Amirtharaj (34) is an employee of a private bank.

The incident happened on Saturday evening and the duo themselves called the police control room and informed that they have secured their former maid when she tried to steal valuables from the house.

Tambaram police, however, found injuries on woman’s face and hands and took all three to the station. Inquiry revealed that the duo sought sexual favour from the woman and attacked her when she resisted.

Police said the woman joined as a maid at Deepak’s house in October to cook for him and his father. However, since she did not like Deepak’s behaviour, she stopped going there since Deepavali. She used to make calls to Deepak demanding him to clear her dues.

On Saturday evening, she went to Deepak’s house to demand her salary in person when Deepak and Anand Amirtharaj locked her up and tried to misbehave with her.

In the melee, she suffered injuries and since she resisted, they dialled the police control room and accused of her stealing valuables. The duo was booked under Woman Harassment Act and a few other Sections and remanded in judicial custody.
