The raid was carried out at the shop (number 815) located on Velacherry - Tambaram Road on December 15 night. The DVAC has registered a case against six persons, including shop supervisor K Rajkumar and salespersons, in connection with the case of disappearance of cash generated through the sale on that day.

DVAC documents show that the sales revenue generated through credit card was around Rs 3.42 lakh and the cash inflow should have been around Rs 2.56 lakh if one goes by the stock in the shop. But there was only Rs 1.69 lakh cash available during the raid.

When questioned about the shortage of more than Rs 86,000, shop supervisor Rajkumar remained silent and preferred not to answer the sleuths’ queries while the other staff pleaded ignorance.

The sleuths believe that the shop supervisor was responsible for the safe keeping of the money as well as the missing cash.

Following this, the DVAC has registered a case against the six staff under Prevention of Corruption Act.
