‘No politics here’: Plea on breach during Shah visit dismissed

Reiterating that politics should not be dragged to court, the first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, said: “It appears that the petitioner seeks political mileage. Politics will not be allowed to enter the court. Whatever the petitioner perceives to be improper conduct should be taken up with the appropriate authority. There is no public interest involved and hence the petition cannot be entertained.” 

Social activist Traffic Ramaswamy had moved the PIL claiming that during the visit of Amit shah to Chennai on November 21 to inaugurate various development projects and to take part in party meetings, the route from the airport to the function venue was lined with many illegal banners and hoardings. Along with this, BJP workers had gathered in contravention of the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in vogue, he alleged. 

A similar plea moved by Traffic Ramaswamy in August calling for a ban on political events and the CM visiting public places was also dismissed.
