Decomposed body of man found in Egmore

Since the body was in a decomposed state, police suspect the person might have died at least five days ago. The vacant plot on the Pantheon Road, a few metres away from the old police commissionerate, currently housing the CB-CID office and the police museum is private property, said police. A resident who noticed the body from his terrace on Saturday morning alerted the police control room after which Egmore police recovered it and sent it for post-mortem. Since the plot is used by passersby to attend nature’s call and to consume liquor, police suspect the man could have died of dehydration due to excessive alcohol consumption and are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain if he was murdered.
