Man found dead at home near Guindy with head covered with polythene bag
A 34-year-old man was found dead at his house in Ekkaduthangal with his head and face covered with a polythene bag on Wednesday night.
CHENNAI: The deceased, J Tamilarasan, was the second son of Jayaram-Dhanam couple and resident of Thirugnanasambandar Street in Ekkaduthangal. The couple’s elder son is married and settled in Porur while Tamilasaran worked in a courier company and stayed with parents.
On Wednesday morning, both parents left for their respective jobs. When Dhanam returned home, Tamilarasan was asleep on his bed with his face covered with the bedsheet. When she removed the bedsheet, she found his face covered with a polythene bag, with a knot tied around the neck. His hands were tied with a shawl.
Tamilasaran was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead. The Guindy police conducted inquiries and spoke to his parents. They allegedly informed the police that Tamilarasan was dejected over the delay of marriage, apart from suffering from different health ailments.
Police suspect that Tamilasaran might have covered his face with polythene bag first and tied it around the neck, and then tied his hands, so that he won’t be able to remove the bag when he struggles to breathe. Police said that he died of asphyxiation.
Further investigation is on to find out if it is more than a suicide.
