Duo murders worker in drunken brawl
Police arrested two men who killed a construction worker in a drunken brawl in Kancheepuram on Saturday.
CHENNAI: The deceased was identified as Saravanan (34) of Orrikai in Kancheepuram, a construction worker. On Friday night, Saravanan was consuming liquor at a Tasmac bar in the locality when he picked up an argument with Balu (40) and Kumaran (40) of Oraikkai. The onlookers had to mediate after which they left for home. On Saturday early morning, the locals found Saravanan lying dead in a culvert with injuries on his body and his limbs tied up.
Later, Saravanan’s father Natrajan filed a complaint at the Kancheepuram Taluk police station. During the inquiry, police found that Saravanan had visited Balu and Kumaran late in the night and following a heated argument the duo attacked Saravanan with wooden logs. After confirming he is dead they dumped the body in the culvert. Police arrested both of them and they were remanded in judicial custody.
