CHENNAI: City Police on Saturday arrested a 37-year-old man who bit the hand of his house owner, an elderly woman and then attacked her with a cooker whistle after an argument over payment of rent, in Thiruvanmiyur.

Police said that the incident happened on August 31 (Wednesday).

The house owner, R Kamalabai had discussed about rent with one of her tenants, D Thilakaraj, which had turned into an argument.

As the argument escalated, Thilakaraj verbally abused the elderly woman and then he bit her hand, police said.

Even as the elderly woman raised alarms after she was bitten, the man took a pressure cooker whistle and threw it at the woman, seriously injuring her.

The woman was rescued by the neighbours and moved to a hospital for treatment.

Based on her complaint, Thiruvanmiyur police arrested Thilakaraj, a native of Ramanathapuram district.
