TIRUVALLUR: A protest by a group of factory workers who’ve been demanding job reinstatement in Tiruvallur gained steam when the protesters had an opportunity to air their grievances to Chief Minister MK Stalin and submit a petition to him on Wednesday.
Close to178 workers who had worked at a car manufacturing company in Kadambathur were fired four years ago when the company changed hands to a different management. Following this, the former employees organised repeated protests over the years demanding reinstatement to no avail. However, over the past 10 days, the former employees along with their family members have been staging a sit-in protest in front of the company.
On Wednesday, the protestors who heard that the Chief Minister was passing by Tiruvallur after a programme in Ulundai took this as an opportunity to bring their grievances to his notice. They met the Chief Minister who was on his way to Chennai and submitted a petition seeking early relief in the matter and requested to be reinstated into the company. CM Stalin who received the petition promised to take action at the earliest.
