Class 12 student who worked as delivery agent run over by truck
On Saturday night, he was returning home after delivering food when the accident happened.
CHENNAI: A Class 12 student who was working part time as a food delivery agent was killed in a road accident after the bike he was riding was knocked down by a concrete mixer truck near Porur.
The deceased was identified as V Balaji (18), a resident of Mugalivakkam near Porur. Police said that the teenager was studying at a school there and after school hours took up food delivery.
On Saturday night, he was returning home after delivering food when the accident happened.
When Balaji was riding along Poonamalee Trunk Road, a concrete mixer truck which was trailing his two-wheeler hit him. Balaji got thrown to the ground and the wheels of the truck ran over him, killing him on the spot, police said.
Team from traffic investigation wing rushed to the scene on information and recovered Balaji’s body and moved it to Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy. Police have launched a hunt for the truck driver, who abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
