CHENNAI: Ahead of the festival season, the city saw a surge in the lookout for weddings and festive home needs between July and September, revealed a study by Sulekha.

The city witnessed an increase in the search for jewellery shops, catering, clothing rental stores, cleaning services, crackers supplies through online in the last three months, when compared to the beginning of the quarter.
"An unusual spike has been witnessed in printing services, especially in the wedding invitation printing and banner segment. The top cities with the maximum spike are Chennai and Delhi. Likewise, there is a 100 percent surge in the search for photographers and videographers across the cities, " as per the study released by Sulekha.
Catering service and chefs are an essential part of every celebration. Chennai has again topped the catering service providers’ search with a 64 percent hike.
Post-pandemic, as the number of marriages increased, the online lookout of jewellery shops skyrocketed from August.
And with hygiene becoming a priority post-pandemic, people are seeking professional cleaning services for homes, where the city witnessed a surge.
Commenting on the trend report, Satya Prabhakar, Founder and CEO, Sulekha said, "With this festival season around the corner, consumers are increasingly looking for options to renovate and rejuvenate.
Festival-related services have recovered better than anticipated. We are tracking a close to 32 percent increase in comparison to the previous year."
