Anti Vice Squad arrests two men for forcing women into sex work
Police said that the duo were part of a gang lured young women who come to the city with aspirations to break into the film industry and forced them into prostitution.
CHENNAI: The anti vice squad of Chennai police on Saturday arrested two men for forcing gullible young women into sex work. One woman, a native of West Bengal was rescued from an apartment complex in Madipakkam, police said.
The arrested persons were identified as P Devendran (25) of Salem and S Saranraj (19) of Bagayam, Vellore.
Police received a tip off about prostitution in an apartment complex in Ram Nagar neighbourhood in Madipakkam after which the apartment was raided.
Police said that the duo were part of a gang lured young women who come to the city with aspirations to break into the film industry and forced them into prostitution.
They were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. The AVS police had already arrested two persons in the same neighbourhood for a similar offence. Police sources said that the main suspect , a broker whom police have identified as Batcha is on the run.
