Dejected over the suicide of 14-year-old son, man kills self

CHENNAI: Dejected over the suicide of his 14-year-old son, a 40-year-old man killed himself in Kundrathur on Wednesday.

Police said Sundar (40) of Palanthandalam in Kundrathur was a carpenter and had two children Dinesh Kumar and Naveen Kumar.

Police said Naveen Kumar who is studying in Class 10 was addicted to mobile games and would spend most of his time gaming. On Wednesday, Sundar scolded Naveen and asked him not to play games anymore.

Soon, Naveen, who went crying inside his room, killed himself. A few hours later, Sundar who checked inside the room was shocked to see Naveen dead.

Police said Sundar burst out and said he was the only reason for his son's suicide and went on to hurt himself with a knife. However, he killed himself at his house.

Later, on information, the Kundrathur police team visited the spot, retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination to the Chromepet GH. The police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
