Chennai Corpn removes 165.87 km-long cables from 15 zones
The civic body executed the removal of cables in Chennai over the last three weekends. A total of 55.58 km of wires were taken off on September 24. The following week, October 10, they removed the 56.71 km-long cables. And last week (October 8), at least 53.58 km of cables were cleared by the residents.
CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation removed interrupted cables, laid without permission in the city. The work will be carried out every Saturday, and in the last three weeks, 165.87 km long TV and internet cables were removed from 15 Zones.
According to the release, "The electrical engineers and staff from the respective zones will remove the unused cables including internet, television and cause trouble for the residents. Every Saturday, one ward in a zone will be carried out. Also, action has been taken by the electricity department to remove the cables that are installed illegally without permission."
