Chennai govt schools kick start Child Film Festival
Students after watching the 45 minutes movie interacted with chief guest mostly called from the Tamil film industry on the film making and message surrounding the movie.
CHENNAI: Under the initiative – Child Film Festival - by the School Education Department, nine government higher secondary schools in Chennai screened a French movie ‘The Red Balloon’ to students of Classes 6 to 9 on Thursday.
Students after watching the 45 minutes movie interacted with chief guest mostly called from the Tamil film industry on the film making and message surrounding the movie.
Celebrities, including Mari Selvaraj, Vasantha balan and Adhiyan Athirai, along with actor Rohini, lyricist Yuva Bharathy, Writer Samraj and India’s first trans policewoman K Prithika Yashini took part at the respective schools in the city.
A teacher of a government higher secondary school in Egmore said, “Students were delighted of the new initiative by the department. After watching the movie, they interacted with our chief guest, actor Rohini on the movie and the message students were able to grasp from it.”
In about 13,000 schools identified across Tamil Nadu, the movie will be screened on the second week of every month. Students of Classes 6 to 12 will be the participants from middle, high and higher secondary schools.
