Titled, Oru Sila Pala Nimidamum Pechchum, the women-centric comedy play is scripted and directed by filmmaker K Balachander’s daughter-in-law Geetha Kailasam. “The story is about the need to express oneself better. Latha, the protagonist struggles to express her anger, sympathy, humour and sadness because she is scared about the repercussions and keeps all the feelings to herself. A turn of events brings about a transformation in her and she begins to share her thoughts with others,” says Geetha, a well-known writer and a storyteller.

She has been writing short stories for the past eight years and the plot for her stories are mostly inspired by day-today events. “I dedicate this play to my father-in-law, K. Balachander from whom I learnt the nuances of script writing, acting and directing. Dialogue and screenplay writing are my forte and I love the comedy genre because I am known for my sense of humour! Now, for the first time, I am venturing into direction and I owe it to my father-in-law, who is my inspiration. I intend to do films too and want to contribute to the field of arts in my unique way,” she explains.

Oru Sila Pala Nimidamum Pechchum stars Meka Rajan, Ganesh Vaidyanadhan, Harinath Arun, Vetriee, Agnitha Nagarajan, Padma Ganapathy, Vishnubala and Geetha.

The play will be staged on April 20 at Narada Gana Sabha.
