PM greets versatile singer Yesudas on his 80th birthday
Yesudas has to his credit the record of singing more than 80,000 songs in a number of Indian languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Odia as well as Arabic, English, Latin, and Russian, during a career spanning more than five decades.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the legendary singer K J Yesudas on his 80th birthday and lauded his valuable contributions to Indian culture.
"On the special occasion of his 80th birthday, greetings to the versatile K J Yesudas Ji. His melodious music and soulful renditions have made him popular across all age groups. He has made valuable contributions to Indian culture," Prime Minister tweeted.
"Wishing him a long and healthy life," he wrote.
Born January 10, 1940, the versatile musician and playback singer was awarded the Padma Shri in 1975, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan, country's second-highest civilian award in 2017 by the Modi government for his contributions towards the arts.
Yesudas has to his credit the record of singing more than 80,000 songs in a number of Indian languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Odia as well as Arabic, English, Latin, and Russian, during a career spanning more than five decades.
He has also won the National Award for the Best Male Playback Singer record eight times.
