Endhiran is a Tamil blockbuster that was directed by Shankar, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai, Santhanam, Karunas among others.

A writer named Arur Tamilnadan filed a case on 2010 against the film, claiming that the story of Endhiran belongs to him. He asked for 1 crore compensation based on copyright violations and also registered a civil case against the film.

Director Shankar had filed a petition in Chennai High Court against Tamilnadan to prohibit any investigation over his claim. But, the court rejected Shankar's plea and stated that it will continue to investigate Tamilnadan's complaint.

In response to this, Shankar further appealed in the Supreme Court against Chennai HC's decision of ordering further inquiry. The Apex court has now dismissed Shankar's appeal over barring the case from investigation.
