Theatres and Multiplexes began its operations today, after nearly 8-months closure due to covid lockdown.  Since the state government has permitted to re-open the stand-alone theatres and multiplexes, from today, 10th November, here is how the theatres functioned today.

While the multiplexes began its movie bookings for the show 2 days ago, the stand-alone theatres didn't attract much crowd.  The theatres which usually find mad festival crowd, considering the upcoming Deepawali, they rather wore a deserted look, said reports.

Both the Multiplexes and theatres had to undergo minimal revamp, due to the continuous lockdown. As per the SOPs, every alternative seat was either removed or tapped to maintain social distancing.

There are around 1,140 theatres in the state, many of them started screening today. While few theatres were still shut, waiting for new releases, others chose to re-release commercially successful movies and critically acclaimed movies that failed to make the box office earlier.

Commercial hits like Rajini's Sivaji, Kamal's Papanasam, Vijay's Thuppaki and Bigil, Ajith's Viswasam, Dhanush's Asuran, Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithal, Dharala Prabhu and critically acclaimed movies like Pariyerum Perumal, Dhraupathi, Parthiepan's Otha Seruppu were few movies that had a re-release in theatres today.

Also, since there will be no new Tamil movie releases until the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) charges demanded by digital service providers are taken care of by the theatre owners, as announced by the director Bharathiraaja, the theatres will have to wait for few more days until this issue is sorted out and to pull the crowd with new releases.
