    Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live Updates: TN records 63.20% of polling as of 5 PM

    Catch the live updates of polling being held in 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories

    CHENNAI: The 2024 Lok Sabha polls will kick off Friday with polling for the first phase scheduled in 102 constituencies spread across 21 states and Union Territories, including 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone Puducherry seat.

    Approximately 6.23 crore voters in Tamil Nadu will vote across nearly 68,000 polling stations, deciding the fate of 950 candidates.

    Voting will begin at 7 AM and end at 6 PM.



    Among the prominent candidates in the fray in the first phase are Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Sarbananda Sonowal, Gaurav Gogoi of Congress and DMK's Kanimozhi. K Annamalai, who is steering the BJP campaign in Tamil Nadu, is also among the contestants.

      On the percentage of voting in Tamil Nadu in the first phase of elections, the state Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo says, "Till 3PM, the voting percentage for the entire state is 51.41%. The highest percentage of voting has been noted in Dharmapuri at 57.86%. Namakkal comes second with 57.67% voting... Minimum voting has been reported in the three constituencies of Chennai. Chennai Central is at 41.47%, Chennai South is at 42.10%, Chennai North is at 44.84%. Voting is going on smoothly in all the places."
