With adventure tourists taking it a notch higher by going to newer locations in the wild Himalayas, here are six spots that are making it to many travel lists

Chopta, Uttarakhand
Are you planning for an impromptu mountain trip? Chopta is an ideal out-ofthebox destination to unwind that you can explore in four days. Around 450 km from Delhi, Chopta is located at an altitude of around 3,500 metres with a panoramic view of the wild ranges of the Himalayas. Whether going by bikes or four-wheelers, Chopta is around 14 hrs drive from Delhi touching Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Ukhimath. From Chopta, one can trek up to Tungnath that has the world’s highest Shiva Temple at an altitude of 3,600 metres. From Tungnath, one can further trek up to the Chandrashila top and can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Himalayas.
Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Studying about Himachal in Geography classes, everyone would have read about Lahaul-Spiti. But little does anyone know about the wild beauty one can experience here. Spiti is a must-visit place for any traveller, who loves to enjoy the wild rocky sculptures. Around 1,500 km round-trip from the national capital, one can either enter Spiti via Manali or Shimla, depending on how they want to complete the circuit. If you are visiting Spiti, don’t miss visiting places like Dhankar, Komic, Langza and Chandratal. Langza and Komic are considered to be Asia’s highest villages connected by a motorable road.
Zanskar, Ladakh
If you love to drive through river beds and waterfalls, this is the route for you. Take the challenge and drive from Kargil to Zanskar to enjoy serenity beyond words. Located in Ladakh, Zanskar is around 250 km from Kargil. One needs to start by 6 in the morning to reach Padum by evening because the maximum speed you can maintain on this route is 20 km/hr. You can also enjoy Buddhist culture for a day before heading back to Kargil.
Pangi Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Located in northern Himachal, one can reach Pangi Valley in three days, travelling through Pathankot, Chamba Valley and Sach Pass, which is one of the most dangerous passes in Asia. Pangi Valley is not much commercialised and people have visited the region to research herbs. The best part indeed is the ride from Bairagarh in Chamba Valley to Killar in Pangi Valley through the Sach Pass. An 80 km drive at an altitude of 4,500 metres, one can surely experience what offroading truly means.
Narkanda, Himachal PradeshÂ
A night-drive from Delhi to Narkanda in Himachal is a must-tick in a traveller’s checklist. The road from Shimla to Narkanda is well maintained and the drive is really pleasing through the lush green mountains. Around 400 km from Delhi, the region is well-known for apples and cherry orchards. One can also drive through Shimla and Theog enjoying the mesmerising views on the way.
Auli, Uttarakhand
Located around 500 metres from Delhi, Auli is the perfect destination for skiing. The best time to visit the place is between December and March. Auli is surely a great place to visit for travellers, who love winter snowfall. One can drive through Rishikesh, Devprayag, Karnprayag and Srinagar and break the journey into 5 days for the 1,000 km round-trip.
