Congress blames govt for plight of migrants
Congress on Sunday accused the government of continuing to ignore the plight of the migrant labourers who are seeking to return to their homes and of putting obstacles in the party’s attempts to help them by paying the fares for their travel.
New Delhi
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate told the media through video conferencing that 42 migrant labourers have so far died in the last 45 days since the lockdown either in accidents like the train crushing 15 of them in Aurangabad and four of them in a road accident and others due to hunger and other reasons flowing out of their hardships.
“Who is responsible for this biggest human tragedy in India during this lockdown. The government has two different approaches for the rich and the poor in this country. The poor migrant labourers have been forced to walk thousands of KM by the heartless government,” she said. Added that the Central government, which had imposed the lockdown at four hours’ notice, had stranded the migrants.
