Delivering a special commemorative address to mark the AMU's centenary celebrations - presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi - the Syedna also referred  to the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

"Prophet Mohammed said: 'Seeking knowledge is a duty obligated upon every Muslim and woman'. The AMU Chancellor lauded the vision of the varsity's founder, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, and the institution's century old services to the nation, highlighted the hard work of its students, faculty and administrators who have raised the banner of the country in  various fields.
