Alva, son of former Minister late Jeevaraj Alva, has been absconding for the past five months ever since the State police launched a crackdown against drug peddlers, suppliers and rave party organisers.
“Absconding accused Aditya Alva has been arrested in Chennai in connection with the drug case registered at cottonpet police station...,” a police officer said. Kannada film actress Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjjanaa Galrani, party organisers Viren Khanna, Aditya Agarwal, RTO clerk K Ravishankar, a few Nigerians and several others were arrested already in this connection. However, Aditya Alva remained at large.
Searches were carried out at various places, including his sprawling bungalow in posh Hebbal and the Mumbai residence of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who is Alva’s brother-in-law. Alva, who is accused number 6 in the case, allegedly arranged for parties to be held at his house in Hebbal where drugs were sold.
Police launched a crackdown on the drug traffickers, peddlers and consumers after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people from Bengaluru with drug haul last year. The trio had told the NCB sleuths that they were supplying drugs to Kannada film actors and singers. CCB officials are questioning Alva to ascertain how and why he escaped. The police are also analysing his call record details.
Last week, the police had arrested film producer and businessman Shivaprakash Chippi, who is accused no. 1 in this case. Chippi had turned himself in and was questioned before being let off.
