Posting on LinkedIn about his new job that went viral, Jayaraman brought to light the several challenges faced by food delivery agents every day, including the very evident extreme fuel price hike, and stated that no job is easy and disrespectful.
Srinivasan Jayaraman, who was a former Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee decided to jump his career to a Zomato delivery agent.
Posting on LinkedIn about his new job that went viral, Jayaraman brought to light the several challenges faced by food delivery agents every day, including the very evident extreme fuel price hike, and stated that no job is easy and disrespectful.
In just a few days before onboarding to his next job, Jayaraman said that he spend his time learning new skills and spending more time with family.
This announcement comes at a time when Zomato CEO and founder Depinder Goyal had announced the online food delivery service provider’s plans to deliver food to customers in record 10 minutes which received a backlash. For this, Goyal came out with a detailed clarification the next day, stressing that the safety of delivery agents will remain a priority even with the 10-minute delivery service.
Here are six key problems Jayaraman highlighted and faced:
- Delivery agents have to race against time to deliver the food to customers.
- Delivery location is not properly mentioned by the customer for quick delivery.
- Jayaraman pointed out about Long-distance delivery location and stated that he received three orders in three hours at a hotspot location.
- Phone numbers are not updated properly.
- Fewer orders are received even in Hotspot locations and peak times.
- Lastly, he said the shooting fuel price has been a huge issue. Tagging Zomato, he said, “Please help/support our warriors. I have seen some notifications where you are planning to help with a petrol price hike. Really appreciate that. Keep helping them."
He also added that when he first said to his family that he is shifting to the Zomato delivery agent job, his family disagreed cause they saw the job as disrespectful which Jayaraman stated that the mindset needed to be changed.
"We love what we are doing that would be the best job in this world and I respect and salute the people who all choose this as a career," he said.
