Sadaya Vizha fitting tribute to Raja Raja, says Adheenam

TIRUCHY: King Raja Raja constructed several temples across Thanjavur and equally respected Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Jainism and Buddhism and the Sadaya Vizha is a fitting tribute to the great king, said Sooriyanarkovil Adheenam Srila Sri Mahalinga Desiga Paramacharya Swamigal on Tuesday.
Presiding the 1,038th Sadaya Vizha for King Raja Raja Chola, which commenced at the Big Temple premises, the Sooriyanarkovil Adheenam said, Raja Raja was very particular to ensure everything to his people and he constructed temples for people and helped the people to visit the temples regularly and recite prayers.
“Raja Raja Cholan constructed several temples across Thanjavur and he equally respected Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Jainism and Buddhism and the temples stand evidence for it,” he said. He also urged the people to work for preserving Tamil culture without any difference.
Subsequently, several events, including recitals of Pannisai, Thirumurai and conferences were held. Later, as many as 1,038 bharatanatyam dancers gave a performance to mark the 1,038th Sadaya Vizha.
Thanjavur Collector Deepak Jacob, former MLA M Ramachandran, SP Ashish Rawat, Palace Devasthanam hereditary Trustee Babaji Rajah Bhonsle and others were present.
