FM Nirmala spreads rumours in the name of piety; slams Stalin
Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman had on Monday that "Properties are being stolen from temples and sold abroad. We don't know who is receiving the money from these sales.
CHENNAI: Slamming the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her recent remarks towards the Hindu temples in the state, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin accused her of spreading rumours in the name of piety.
Addressing the wedding ceremony here, the DMK president said, "They (BJP) are using social media to distract people by spreading false propaganda and fake news. Likewise, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is spreading rumours, saying that the DMK government is looting Hindu temples."
"Even if people like BJP state president K Annamalai had made these comments, I would not have been upset. So far, Hindu temple properties worth more than Rs 5,500 crore have been recovered under the DMK-led Dravidian Model regime. She (Nirmala) is spreading rumours in the name of piety. If she is truly pious, she would have appreciated the DMK regime, " Stalin said.
Earlier in the week, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the properties belonging to Hindu temples in the state are being stolen and sold abroad.
Further, Stalin alleged that few people are planning and working to topple the Dravidian Model government.
"A retired police officer posted on his social media that I said we don't need the votes of Hindus, which is not true. I have initiated a case against him. I mention this because some people are trying to defame and topple the Dravidian Model government. I appeal to you all to make use of the upcoming election and teach them a lesson, " he noted.
Lauding his Junior, Stalin said, "Everyone knows that if there is one wing that is better than all wings in DMK, it is the youth wing. This is the reality. Everyone understands it. You (DMK Cadres) also know that the youth wing is marching majestically today under the leadership of Udayanidhi Stalin."
