CHENNAI: Day 3 of the Paris Olympics 2024 started off in a good way for the Indian contingents with Olympics medal winner Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh winning the qualifying round of the mixed 10m air pistol event on Monday. They will take part in the bronze medal match tomorrow.
In the women's 10m air rifle event, Ramita Jindal finished seventh in the finals which ended her hopes for a medal in the event. On the other hand, Arjun Babuta, who was expected to add to India's medal tally, missed out on winning a bronze by finishing fourth in the men's 10m air rifle competition.
Coming to badminton, the doubles match of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty which was scheduled to take place today got cancelled as their opponents withdrew from the competition due to Mark Lamsfuss (one of their opponents) sustaining an injury. They will now face the Indonesian pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto on Tuesday. It is a must-win game for the Indian duo as it is their final game before the quarterfinals.
In the men's singles event, Lakshya Sen won two straight sets against his Belgium opponent Julien Carraggi (21-19, 21-14).
