The Indian duo had earlier finished fourth in the qualification round to secure their spot in the bronze medal match. Despite a strong effort, they ultimately fell short against their Chinese opponents.

But the biggest disappointment came in badminton for India today as Lakshya Sen, who was all set to make history by becoming the only male shuttler to win an Olympic medal went down against Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia. He won the first set (21- 13) against the Malaysian, but couldn’t fight in the next two (16- 21, 11- 21).
