CHENNAI: The Day 5 of the Paris Olympics 2024 started off well for the Indian contingents with badminton star PV Sindhu breezing past Kristen Kuuba in her final group stage match on Wednesday. With this she advances to round of 16.
In men’s singles, Lakshya Sen defeated Jonatan Christie in two straight sets.
Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale competing in 50m rifle 3 positions men's qualification, advanced to the final.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain from Assam is just one win away from a medal. She'll take on top seed Li Qian of China on Sunday.
Indian Table Tennis player Manika lost to Japan's Miu Hirano in women's 1/16 Elimination round. Indian has been eliminated from the singles competition.
In other event Indian Archer Tarundeep Rai was defeated by Great Britain's Tom Hall in Men's Individual 1/32 Elimination round.
Prannoy advances to Round of 16, to face off Lakshya Sen. Prannoy defeated Vietnam's Le Duc in 1/32 Elimination round ( 16-21,21-11,21-12 )
Also, Sreeja Akula will be in action once again tonight as she'd take on reigning World Champion Sun Yingsha in pre quarterfinals.
