Discipline and commitment
There is something called discipline and something called commitment. When people come to me asking the reason for their suffering in spite of they being very disciplined in life, I just tell them that its not discipline that is required; its all about commitment. Some scholars talk about animals being disciplined but actually animals don’t live with discipline. By nature they are designed to respond only to their need or growth. For example a tiger will never feed on grass or a domestic cow will never attack humans. People misunderstand this nature as discipline. There is no point in terming an action as discipline which does not help you in your growth. Every addiction becomes a negative discipline and every commitment becomes a positive discipline. If you fail to have commitments in life, human beings will be lost in unwanted addictions like movies, entertainment etc.
There are four kinds of people:
- People those who are not aware of the spiritual practice and so they don’t practise it.
- People who are aware of this practice but still not able to commit to practice it in life.
- People who are searching for the right practice but still not able to find one.
- The last is the blessed lot. One who knows what the right practice is and how to commit to practise it in life. This is what I call as commitment to practice.
Commitment towards meditation
Let’s now talk about the power of commitment and the importance of commitment towards transformation which I call as meditation, an action which will promise you a better life than the existing one. Let me explain why commitment towards Meditation is important with the following metaphor. A saint was sitting near a river bank and observing everybody passing by.
This continued for weeks and years. One fine day a person asked him, “Guruji why are you sitting in this same place?” He replied that he was waiting for the river to stop its flow so that he can cross it. People laughed at his answer and told him that it was foolishness to wait for the river to stop its flow. When everyone around were making fun of him, Guruji just smiled and said that this is what he has been trying to tell everyone all these years. It’s time to move from this place and find connection with God through Meditation. There is no reason why one should wait for the right time to start meditation. One has to understand that it’s not the rituals or prayers that can bring the change.
It’s your ability to connect with the power within that can bring the change you want in life. Always remember that the power that you receive from meditation has got the power to change your karma. In life there may be situations which we need to face or some situations which we will not be able to face. Waiting to finish all your responsibilities and then start meditation is foolishness like how the saint was waiting for the river to stop its flow in order to cross it. Once you solve one problem and move ahead, there is another one waiting for you. Spirituality is something that you should begin once you start facing problems in life. This will give you power to come out of any problem. This is what I call as miracle.
Miracles are possible
Your commitment towards Meditation will not only give you experience; it will give you miracles. But for the miracles to happen in life, commitment to the practice is the fundamental secret. There is no other secret mantra or ritual that can make this possible. This is the only way to bring the change in life beyond your imagination. In fact miracles are possible. So tell yourself to believe in miracles, but commitment is the secret.
Wishing you a Life Full of Peace, Success and Abundance.
