    Local League: Pradosh gives Tamil Nadu the lead

    Captain Pradosh Ranjan Paul (107) led from the front to give Tamil Nadu a 98-run first innings lead against Tripura in the Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 Elite C four-day game in Agartala on Sunday.

    At stumps on the third day, the host was tottering at 66 for four in the second innings, still trailing the visitor by a margin of 32 runs. Earlier, resuming on its overnight score of 17 for one, Tamil Nadu made 269 in the first innings before getting bowled out. Skipper and opening batter Pradosh did bulk of the scoring, smashing 19 fours and one maximum during his 125-ball knock.


    Brief scores: Tripura 171 all-out and 66 for 4 in 26 overs (Tanmoy Das  29, Aashiq Kaleel Rehman 2/15) vs Tamil Nadu 269 all-out in 59.5 overs (R Vimal Khumar 27, Pradosh Ranjan Paul 107, Arjun P Murthy 33, Sahil Sultan 3/36).

    Assam has the edge over Tamil Nadu
    Mrinmoy Dutta (5/58) bagged a five-wicket haul as Assam holds the edge against Tamil Nadu in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy Under-23 Elite B four-day contest in Silchar on Sunday.
    Replying to the home side’s first innings score of 198, Tamil Nadu was all out for 167 in 66 overs on the third day courtesy Mrinmoy’s stunning effort with the ball. Holding a 31-run advantage after the opening exchanges, Assam was 107 for five in the second innings at close of play on Sunday. Overall, the host has a lead of 148 runs with five wickets in hand.
    Brief scores: Assam 198 all-out and 107 for 5 in 40 overs (Biplab Saikia 27, Mujibur Ali 28*, S Swaminathan 3/17) vs Tamil Nadu 167 all-out in 66 overs (S Radhakrishnan 73, R Sonu Yadav 32, Mrinmoy Dutta 5/58, Rahul Singh 4/47).
