Chess camp in the city

The average age of the 14 players (12 boys and two girls) is 13. A total of 14 youngsters (eight Grandmasters and six International Masters) will be coached by chess legends Vladimir Kramnik and Boris Gelfand in an 11-day camp (January 8 to January 18) here organised by Microsense Networks. The average age of the 14 players (12 boys and two girls) is 13. Kramnik, a former World Champion, said, “I am excited to train these young players alongside Gelfand. Incidentally, the last time I met him in India (1990s) was for a match. We had our first Microsense camp in France and I am glad that we are doing another one.” Gelfand, on his part, said, “India has a unique generation of talent. It is aspiring to become the superpower in world chess. Some of these juniors have already achieved incredible success and I have no doubts it will be a great experience.”

Players part of the camp: Praggnanandhaa, Gukesh, Raunak Sadhwani, Prithu Gupta, Iniyan, Arjun Erigaisi, Leon Mendonca, Sreeshwan Maralakshikari, Aditya Mittal, Arjun Kalyan, Bharat Subramaniyam, Raahil Mullick, Rakshitta Ravi and Vaishali.
