Mumbai Indians emerged victorious against Delhi Capitals to become five-time champions in IPL.

They chased down 156 with five wickets in hand and eight balls to spare.

Captain Rohit Sharma, who hasn't had a memorable IPL as a batsman could console himself with his knock coming at the right time.

Rohit anchored the Mumbai Indians innings while de Kock wasn't fortunate enough to extend his batting beyond a cameo of 12-ball 20 runs.

But 'Hitman' couldn't take his team home as he was dismissed for 68 in the 17th over.

Speedsters Rabada and Nortje were given a good run for their money as they were unbecoming of their danger-duo label they earned early on in the tournament. Axar Patel impressed with his neat spell.

Despite making inroads in the fag end of this contest, it was too late for Delhi to stop Mumbai.

With the foundation already laid, Ishan Kishan just had to complete the formalities.

Batting first, nightmare of their previous encounter against Mumbai once again haunted Delhi, they lost three quick wickets within the powerplay. Stoinis failed to fire, departing for a golden duck.

Rahane and Dhawan too failed to make their innings worthy. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and wicket keeper Rishabh Pant did the reinforcement job for Delhi. Shreyas stood unbeaten on 65 behooving a captain.

But the disciplined bowling effort of Mumbai, conceding just four extras, reined in Delhi for 156.

Though 156 could be defended in this surface, given its form and composition, Mumbai Indians just made a mockery of the target.

Mumbai Indians upstaged Delhi for the fourth time in this season to win the IPL trophy for the fifth time.

    Brief scores:
    DC 156/7 - Shreyas Iyer 65 (50) Rishabh Pant 56 (38); Boult 30/3 (4)

    MI 157/5 - Rohit Sharma 68 (51); Axar Patel 16/0 (4) Anrich Nortje 25/2 (2.4)
