TN men’s team to take on Kerala in last-8
The Tamil Nadu men’s team defeated Railways 85-74 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Thursday and topped its second-round group in the Senior National Basketball Championship.
CHENNAI: Aravind Kumar (29 points), A Aravind (19 points) and captain H Muin Bek (18 points) were the chief contributors for Tamil Nadu, which finished first in Group F. In the quarter-final stage on Friday, Tamil Nadu will take on Kerala that came last in Group E.
The Tamil Nadu women’s team came up trumps 87-63 against Madhya Pradesh, but could secure only the third spot in Group E. Tamil Nadu will meet Punjab, placed second in Group F, on Friday for a spot in the semi-finals. The second round – Group E and F in both the men’s and women’s events – was conducted to classify the teams for the last-eight draw.
