Chennai loses to Rajasthan in last league match

CHENNAI: Chennai Quick Guns went down 31-66 to Rajasthan Warriors in its final Ultimate Kho Kho league match at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Tuesday.

Chennai, which had sealed a play-off berth with a win over Mumbai Khiladis on Monday, ended the double round-robin stage with 15 points from 10 matches. On Tuesday, skipper Majahar Jamadar and Hrushikesh Murchavade bagged 14 points each as the already eliminated Rajasthan finally secured its maiden win.

After losing the toss, Warriors made a positive start and led 25-2 at the conclusion of the first turn. While Chennai managed to secure 20 points in the second turn, Rajasthan held a five-point (27-22) cushion at the end of the first innings.

In the penultimate turn, Rajasthan, on the back of stunning attacks from Majahar and Hrushikesh, earned a match-winning tally of 29 points and inched closer to victory. Warriors allowed Quick Guns to capture only nine points in the fourth and final turn as it ensured a dominant win.

Odisha Juggernauts, Gujarat Giants, Telugu Yoddhas and Chennai will compete in the play-offs.
