T20 WC: England drops opener Roy; Woakes, Wood back
A few hours after the squad was announced, Jonny Bairstow was ruled out after injuring his lower leg in a freak accident on a golf course. His replacement is yet to be named.
LONDON: England dropped out-of-form opener Jason Roy and welcomed back fit-again pacers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood into its squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia. The 32-year-old Roy has struggled this summer and hit just 76 runs in his last six T20 Internationals, which made his position untenable for the World Cup and the preceding seven-match shortest format series in Pakistan. A few hours after the squad was announced, Jonny Bairstow was ruled out after injuring his lower leg in a freak accident on a golf course. His replacement is yet to be named.
SQUAD: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood
