‘Expedite paper work on Micro Irrigation scheme’

The communiqué observed that a total of Rs 803.93 crore has been allocated under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) Micro Irrigation scheme as ‘Per Drop More Crop’ component in 2017-2018, and an area of 1,22,130 hectares (Horticulture – 57,140 ha and Agriculture 64,990 ha) is to be covered in the current financial year. 

Bedi noted that applications for only 58,000 ha have been approved for further processing whereas a total of 1,03,000 ha had been registered to avail the benefit. “The main reason observed for this delay is the want of small/marginal farmer certificate from the farmers. 

The certificate which is to be issued by tahsildars is mandatory to obtain cent per cent subsidy under the said scheme”, he said.

Bedi further stated that the state was taking all out efforts to bring more area under MI by absorption of GST in the state subsidy. He listed out coordination with MI companies and relaxation for quickening the implementation, among others, as measures in place. 

The Commissioner also sought the Collectors to direct the revenue department officials to conduct village level special campaigns and ensure issuance of small and marginal farmer certifications without any delay in coordination with agriculture/horticulture department officials which would facilitate in achieving the target before March 2018. 

“You are requested to give special attention for micro irrigation and conduct weekly review meetings with the officials from department of horticulture, agriculture, and agricultural engineering, along with district micro irrigation firm representatives”, he said. 

The official also urged the Collectors to start sending him progress report soon after they started reviewing the MI scheme on a weekly basis and once they have streamlined the issuance of small and marginal farmers certificates to the farmers.
