Top cop to take a swim at land’s end

Sylendra Babu, along with 10 other policemen, will go from Dhanushkodi to Talaimannar on mechanised boats on Monday and start swimming from Talaimannar in the early hours of Tuesday. 

Sources close to him said he has obtained appropriate permission from the state government before undertaking the swim. 

Ten other policemen, who are experts in swimming and hold national records, would accompany him during his swim. On March 17, Sylendra Babu along with his team of swimmers had swam from the International Maritime Border Line to Dhanushkodi in a record 2 hours and 44 minutes.
