    Four injured lorry-hijackers sent to Vellore central jail

    The accused, Lokesh (21), Ashok Kumar (29), Parthiban (25) and Rakesh (22), from Vellore and its surrounding areas were remanded on Thursday after getting treatment at the Vellore Government Medical College and Hospital for injuries they suffered in their arms and legs, when they attempted to escape from the police at the Pallikonda toll plaza two days ago.

    The culprits stole a stationary lorry at Pootuthakku on the Chennai – Bengaluru National Highway when the lorry driver Durai was having his dinner. On noticing the missing vehicle, he informed owner Venketesh, who managed to trace the missing lorry through GPS service and informed the police, who seized the container vehicle at the Pallikondan toll plaza.


    However, there were no reports of injuries or even escape attempts, but a day later, the press was taken aback when they learnt that the culprits sufferedinjuries when “they attempted to escape” on seeing the cops.
