Earlier in the day, Mahatma Gandhi University VC Sabu Thomas, Yury Gogotsi, nanomaterials institute director from USA-based Drexel University, and 2009 chemistry Nobel laureate Ada E Yonath participated.

Viswanathan further said that though the Institution of Eminence (IoE) tag accorded on VIT mandates the university to get listed within the top 500 global educational institutions in five years’ time, efforts are on to ensure that it ranks within the top 200 institutions by then.

While university VC Anand Samuel welcomed the gathering, CNR’s V Velmurugan proposed a vote of thanks.
