Kovai minor raped, filmed after b’day party

Though the incident took place three days ago on November 26, it came to light on Saturday after the parents of the Class 12 student lodged a complaint with the R S Puram All Women Police Station.

While four of the accused have been arrested, two others, including the gang leader, are still on the run. Special teams have been formed to nab them. The girl and her friend, who were returning from the park around 9 pm, were waylaid by the six-member gang. The accused allegedly assaulted the boyfriend, took them to a desolate place, sexually assaulted the girl and filmed the act. The gang also stripped the boy and filmed it, before fleeing the scene.

The police registered cases under Sections 5(u), 6, 9(g), 10, 13, 14 and 17 of the Pocso Act and under Sectiond 354 and 506 (ii) of the IPC. The arrested were identified as T Rahul (21), R Prakash (22), S Karthikeyan (28) and S Narayanamurthy (30), all from Seeranaickenpalayam, a suburb of Coimbatore. The four were produced before the Mahila Court and remanded in judicial custody.

Man held for impregnating minor girl under Pocso Act

A 21-year-old worker of a garment company at Sulur was arrested under Pocso Act on Saturday on charges of impregnating a minor girl, who is his colleague.
