Without paying heed to Santhapriya, when the workers took away Srinivasan, Santhapriya soon consumed poison and collapsed. She was immediately rushed to the Vaniyambadi Government Hospital, where doctors however declared her brought dead.

When Santhapriya’s parents came to know of the turn of events, her father gave a complaint to the Alangayam police. He demanded a detailed investigation into the case as he suspect something amiss in hisdaughter’s death.

Meanwhile, Srinivasan’s father K Mani (45), a resident of Pinnathurai near Odugathur in Vellore district, also gave a separate complaint demanding action against “the killers of his daughter-in-law”.

The relatives of both the families also blocked the Alangayam-Vaniyambadi road demanding action. Based on the information, the police who rushed to the spot pacified the protesters with the promise of taking swift action.

Based on the two complaints, police arrested three persons identified as Palani, Krishnamurthy and Ilayaraja from near Poonkulam and are investigating.
